The Tour de Gyeongnam 2025, a five-day international cycling race along South Korea’s southern coast, officially began with an opening ceremony on June 4 at Tongyeong Triathlon Square.
The event marks the return of a UCI-authorized Asian Tour road race to Korea for the first time since Tour de Korea 2019.
A total of 220 riders from 22 teams representing 16 countries are participating, including Asia’s top-ranked Terengganu Cycling Team from Malaysia and Japan’s second-ranked Team Yuko. Cyclists will compete across five cities—Tongyeong, Geoje, Sacheon, Namhae, and Changwon, covering a total distance of 553.6 kilometers from June 4 to 8.
The opening ceremony featured regional leaders, including Gyeongna province Vice Governor Park Myeong-gyun and Tongyeong Mayor Chun Yeong-gi.
The event also included a parade and community participation, with local booths and cycling experience zones set up along the route to engage residents and visitors.
