Nearly 8 million people visited Busan’s seven public beaches last month, marking a significant 24.3% increase from the same period in 2024.
According to city officials, 7,911,635 beachgoers were recorded in July, with the number surpassing 8.6 million when including June visits to early-opening beaches like Haeundae and Songjeong.
This is the highest July total since 2022, when pandemic restrictions were lifted.
Haeundae Beach led all locations with 3.48 million visitors, followed by Gwangalli (1.62 million), Songdo (1.23 million), and Dadaepo (854,000). Dadaepo’s new east-side area alone attracted over 237,000 people.
The growth was attributed to the early end of the rainy season on July 7 and a rise in foreign tourists, up 23.7% from January to May.
Despite the positive numbers, there were 704 rescue and emergency cases, including several windsurfing-related drifts and 100 jellyfish stings, mainly at Songjeong, Songdo, and Haeundae beaches.
