Busan to Co-Host 2025 Namhaean Cup International Yacht Race Connecting South Coast Cities

Busan will co-host the 2025 Namhaean Cup International Yacht Race from June 12 to 15, alongside Gyeongsangnam-do and Jeollanam-do.

The event aims to promote regional cooperation and boost maritime tourism along the southern coast of Korea.

Now in its sixth year, the Namhaean Cup is the country’s longest inter-regional yacht race, linking Busan, Tongyeong, and Yeosu.

A total of 300 participants from 10 countries are expected to compete against the backdrop of the scenic South Sea coastline.

The race schedule includes three stages: from Tongyeong to Yeosu on June 14, from Tongyeong to Busan on June 15, and local events in each host city. The longest leg, from Maemuldo to Busan, covers approximately 74 kilometers and takes around eight hours.

The opening ceremony will be held on June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the outdoor stage of Tongyeong Marine Sports Center, with athletes and officials in attendance.

In Busan, Suyeong Bay Yacht Center will host additional events from June 13 to 15, including yacht races for people with disabilities and youth participants, offering broader opportunities for public engagement with marine leisure sports.

The event will conclude with closing ceremonies and awards on June 15 at venues in both Busan and Yeosu.
