Busan is hosting the 2025 Summer Series Women’s International Basketball Tournament, a large-scale series of events organized by the Korea Women’s Basketball League (WKBL), from July to September.
The tournament aims to energize the off-season with a trio of international women’s basketball competitions, further solidifying Busan’s image as a “sports heaven city.”
The Summer Series will include:
The Futures League
The International Youth Girls’ Basketball Club Tournament
The Park Shin-ja Cup International Women’s Basketball Tournament
All events will be held sequentially in Busan.
Futures League (July 2–10 | Sajik Indoor Gymnasium)
The Futures League kicks off the series with domestic and international up-and-coming players. Previously limited to rookies and military athletes, this year’s competition has expanded to include WKBL’s six professional teams, Japan’s top youth players, and four international teams including one from Singapore.
International Youth Girls’ Basketball Club Tournament (August 28–30 | Pusan National University Gym)
This tournament brings together 33 Korean youth teams (U-8 to U-15) for a preliminary league. The final round will feature the top eight Korean teams competing against youth teams from Japan, Taiwan, and other countries.
Park Shin-ja Cup (August 30 – September 7 | Sajik Indoor Gymnasium)
The series concludes with the prestigious Park Shin-ja Cup, held in the hometown of 2024–2025 WKBL champions BNK Some. This international tournament will feature six WKBL teams alongside teams from Japan, Spain, Hungary, and more, giving fans an early glimpse into the upcoming WKBL season.
By hosting this multi-tiered series, Busan aims to expand the base of women’s basketball, promote international exchange, and elevate its status as a global sports hub.
