Celebrated actor Lee Byung Hun will serve as the solo host of the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) opening ceremony, set to take place on Wednesday, September 17.
This marks the first time in BIFF’s history that the grand opening will be led by a male solo emcee, adding a new chapter to the festival’s legacy.
With a career spanning 35 years, Lee is recognized as one of Korea’s most acclaimed and versatile actors. From his breakout roles in Inside Men and The Man Standing Next to global success through Squid Game and Hollywood blockbusters like G.I. Joe, Red 2, and The Magnificent Seven, Lee has continually captivated audiences with his emotional depth and screen presence.
His participation this year not only celebrates BIFF’s three-decade milestone but also symbolizes the bridge between the past, present, and future of Korean cinema. As BIFF enters a new era, Lee’s charisma and international stature are expected to lend gravitas to the festival’s opening night.
The 30th BIFF runs from September 17 to 26, 2025, with events held across Busan, centered around the Busan Cinema Center.
