맛집 [ matjip ]
We looked at 맛집 already when studying 집 before. However, Koreans have started to use 맛집 with a bigger meaning in the last few months.
These days, if something (an area, place, nation… it does not matter) has something or people (must be more than one) that is very nice, that something is called “OO 맛집”. Let’s look at the examples.
ex)
이 그룹은 재능 맛집이야. (This K-pop group is amazing with many talented members.)
이 가게는 예쁜 옷 맛집이네요. (This shop is a great place with many pretty clothes.)
이 커피숍은 분위기 맛집이야. (This coffee shop is a mood matjip./ The interior of this coffee shop is very nice and the atmosphere is incomparable.)
