Busan has officially been chosen to host the FISM World Championships of Magic (WCM) 2028, a prestigious international event often referred to as the “Olympics of Magic.”
The decision was announced on July 15 at the FISM WCM 2025 in Turin, Italy, where Busan was selected over Quebec, Canada.
This marks the second time Busan will host the global event, following its successful organization of FISM WCM 2018. The 2028 return highlights the city’s ongoing commitment to major international cultural events.
The FISM WCM is the largest international competition for professional magicians, with participants representing their respective countries to compete for top honors.
In addition to the competitive element, the event features gala performances by world-renowned magicians, over 70 magic lectures, 30 workshops, street performances, side events, and booths for magic-related merchandise, transforming the host city into a global center of illusion and entertainment for the duration of the event.
The 2028 event is expected to attract around 3,000 participants, including national representatives and VIPs, and draw approximately 300,000 visitors over its 20-day run.
Beyond the formal venues, citizens will also be able to enjoy free public street performances, offering a broader cultural experience throughout the city.
