The city of Busan, in collaboration with the Busan Transportation Corporation, will run the “Pink Light Awareness Campaign” from October 10 to October 31 to promote a culture of consideration for pregnant women.
This initiative marks the 19th year of celebrating “Pregnant Women’s Day” on October 10th and aims to spread awareness about the ‘Pink Light’ app, which helps reserve designated seats for expecting mothers on public transportation.
The campaign features two interactive missions: “Find the Pink Light in Urban Railways” and “Challenge! Pink Light App Review.”
Participants are encouraged to download the app, locate a ‘Pink Light’ in subway cars, and share their experiences on social media with designated hashtags. They can also leave a detailed review of the app’s performance.
The Pink Light app, first introduced five years ago, provides pregnancy and childcare information, subway carriage guides, and more.
Available for all pregnant women, including foreign residents, the app is designed to enhance comfort and accessibility for expecting mothers.
Busan citizens who complete the missions will be entered into a raffle for prizes such as subway tickets and drink coupons. Event details and participation guidelines are available on the Busan City and Busan Transportation Corporation websites.
This ongoing initiative underscores Busan’s commitment to supporting pregnant women through various events, campaigns, and the gradual expansion of display-type Pink Light receivers throughout the subway system.
Future plans include data-driven campaigns tailored to the times and routes most frequented by pregnant women.
