The 3rd Dadaepo Sunset Film Festival (DSFF) will be held from August 8 to 10 at Dadaepo Beach and theaters in western Busan, offering a unique blend of cinema and seaside sunsets.
The festival, which began in 2022 as the Busan Laxpur International Film Festival, has grown into a major cultural event in the region, attracting 18,000 visitors last year.
The festival will open with a pre-party on August 8 at 6:00 pm at Dadaepo Beach. A special retrospective will honor late Busan-born actress Kim Young-ae with a screening of her film Aeja, alongside a selection of short films.
The official opening ceremony on August 9 at 6:00 pm will feature the Busan-set comedy Park Soo-geundal, introduced by director Jo Jin-gyu and actor Kim Jeong-tae.
The festival will conclude on August 10 at 3:00 pm with an awards ceremony for the inaugural Short Film Contest and a screening of C’est Si Bon.
The contest, themed around “Busan, Saha, Sunset, Sea,” received 214 submissions, with winners receiving cash prizes and a family tour of local filming locations.
Additional events include a “Dadaepocha” food and goods market, a film experience zone, and cultural performances near Dadaepo Beach.
Film screenings will also take place at CGV Hadan Art Malling and Lotte Cinema Busan Janglim.
