Eat Like a Local: Cafe Choryang 1941 Offers a Japanese Feel

Built in a converted 1941 Japanese-style cottage, Cafe Choryang 1941 has become a popular stop for Instagram photographers and those looking for a unique experience in Busan.

Located in the mountains in Dong-gu, this unique cafe only features one coffee, though focuses on milk — its specialized bottles of ginger milk, camellia milk, vanilla milk and coffee vanilla milk are just a few of the options to choose from for around 6,800 won to 7,000 won.

They also offer a variety of parfaits and about four desserts to choose from from around 5,500 won to 6,500 won.

With seating for just under 20, the cafe regularly fills up quickly in the mornings.

Its rustic furniture and nostalgic atmosphere, including old cutlery and tatami mats, make this cafe a must-stop for those seeking something off the beaten path.

The cafe does run regular hours but will close if their product is sold out for the day. It’s a bit of a trek to find, but well worth it if you can.

Parking is available, though if you take a bus, you’ll need to climb a steep hill for about five minutes.
