The Busan Concert Hall will host ‘Midsummer’s Piano Banquet (Summer Piano Week)’ on August 5 and 7, presenting a two-night piano recital series that blends youthful brilliance with seasoned artistry.
Organized by Classic Busan, the event features performances by two acclaimed pianists—Kim Se-hyeon, winner of the 2025 Long-Thibaud International Competition, and Baek Hye-seon, a virtuoso known for her powerful presence and poetic expression.
On August 5 at 7:30 p.m., Kim Se-hyeon will perform in Busan for the first time, delivering a program that reflects both technical precision and expressive depth. His recital includes Chopin’s Mazurkas and Scherzos, Fauré’s Impromptus and Barcarolles, Liszt’s piano sonatas, and more—offering a broad exploration of classical and modern repertoires.
On August 7 at 7:30 p.m., Baek Hye-seon, often referred to as the “Pianist of Pianists,” will take the stage with a special program commemorating the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation. Titled “Homage to My Homeland,” her recital will feature Beethoven’s ‘Les Adieux’ Sonata, Bartók, Schumann, and a contemporary piece by Korean composer Seo Ju-ri, expressing themes of identity, memory, and homeland through masterful interpretation.
Future programs include collaborations with Sejong Soloists, international orchestra invitations under the ‘World Series’, and a special multimedia concert with author Bernard Werber.
Reservations for both recitals can be made up to three hours before showtime through the official website classicbusan.busan.go.kr.
