Beat the summer heat with the serene beauty of Nordic classical music as the Busan Cultural Center presents Northern Europe, the third installment of its popular World Classical Music Tour series, on July 24 and 25.
Led by Baek Seung-hyun, assistant conductor of the Busan City Symphony Orchestra, and joined by celebrated flautist Cho Seong-hyun, the program offers a musical journey through the landscapes and spirit of Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
Audiences will experience works by Edvard Grieg, Carl Nielsen, and Jean Sibelius, composers known for blending national identity, folklore, and nature into their compositions.
Grieg’s Holberg Suite opens the concert with peaceful, forest-like melodies. Nielsen’s Flute Concerto follows, a rare two-movement work that puts the spotlight on the flute’s delicate timbre.
Cho Seong-hyun, praised for his performances across Europe, brings this piece to life. The program concludes with Sibelius’ stirring Finlandia, a musical emblem of Finnish resistance and hope.
Performances take place at the Busan Cultural Center Medium Theater: Thursday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, July 25 at 11:00 a.m.
Tickets are 20,000 won and available via the center’s website.
