To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day, the Busan Museum will host a special family education program titled “A Story of Liberation in Cookies: Taegeukgi and Mugunghwa Icing Cookie Experience” on July 26.
This event is held in conjunction with the museum’s special exhibition, “Walking Through That Day of Liberation.”
The hands-on program invites families with infants (born in or after 2020) and elementary school children up to age 13 to participate in two sessions held at 10:20 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. A total of 40 families (20 families per session) will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, and the event is free of charge.
During the experience, participants will enjoy a guided tour of the special exhibition led by a professional docent. They will then craft seven types of icing cookies themed around Liberation Day, including symbols such as the Taegeukgi, Rose of Sharon, and portraits of independence activists. The goal is to help children understand the historical significance of Korea’s liberation through interactive and creative activities.
Applications open from 10:00 a.m. on July 22 to 5:00 p.m. on July 24 through the Busan Museum’s official website (museum.busan.go.kr/busan). Participation is limited to families with children aged 6–13 accompanied by at least one guardian.
