Dave Beck Releases New Single Called ‘Busan’ – Will Perform June 3rd at HQ

American musician Dave Beck is announcing the release of his new single “Busan” in Korea. “Busan”, the debut song from the full-length album due out this fall, is the first new material from Beck in nearly five years.

Based loosely on a trip South, the song captures images of beachy, mountainous train rides in Korea. “Busan” is about the expression “The grass is always greener on the other side,” or in Korean “남의 떡이 더커 보인다.”

Musically, with the help of a seasoned band, Beck’s new sounds take a dramatic step from his singer songwriter days.

Drummer Dee Anthony Nelson Jr., Bassist KC Swink and guest guitarist Kirk Scheonherr (of Chet Faker), provide a dynamic rhythm section that translates the peaks and valleys throughout the song.

Originally from Iowa, Dave Beck moved to Korea in 2013 after years of living and performing in New York City. In Korea, he is known in part for his appearance on the popular Korean TV show 무한도전 that filmed while he was a barista at Think Coffee in New York City.

Beck has spent the last few years here in Seoul cultivating the themes and melodies for his new songs. In 2014, he re-released his critically acclaimed, debut album “Stranger Homes” in Korea and performed at various festivals, including Pentaport Rock Festival in 2015. His second single “Slow Down,” is due out June 27th.

He will perform at HQ Bar in Gwangalli on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. with admission at 5,000 won.
