The 24th Busan Science Festival will be held on April 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Exhibition Hall 1 of BEXCO.
The two-day event will bring together science and culture under the theme “Ensemble of Science and Culture”, offering a wide range of interactive programs aimed at engaging citizens of all ages in the wonders of science.
Jointly organized by Busan City, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, the Busan Science and Technology Council, and the Busan Creative Convergence Education Center, the festival is now in its 24th year and continues to grow as a key platform for science communication and hands-on learning.
This year’s festival will feature participation from over 70 institutions, including national and private science museums, universities, and student teams from middle and high schools. Visitors will have access to more than 110 unique science experience programs, many of which are designed to blend scientific concepts with artistic and cultural expression.
The festival will be organized into four thematic zones, each offering a different type of experience:
-
Le Tang Playground: A creative space where science meets culture through music, magic, and interactive art activities.
-
Petit Science Museum: A compact exhibition space featuring both basic and advanced displays from local scientific institutions.
-
Ecole Laboratory: A space run by student teams from Busan’s Creative Convergence Education Center, where original science projects will be presented.
-
Science Conte: A hybrid program combining science storytelling and performance, offering lectures and stage shows that explore science in daily life. Some of these sessions require advance registration and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition to the main exhibits, a variety of side events are planned, including hands-on workshops like parish making, puzzle games, and a formation track preview. These activities aim to make scientific concepts accessible and fun, particularly for younger participants.
The opening ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on April 12, with around 100 guests expected to attend, including citizens and local science advocates. The event will also feature the Busan Science and Technology Award ceremony, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to research and development in the region.
The festival is free to attend, and full details about the program and schedule are available on the official website: www.busansf.or.kr.
