The 2025 Busan International Improvisation Festival (BIMPRO), led by Artistic Director Eunhwa Park, will unfold across Busan this May, bringing dance, music, and spontaneous performance to a wide range of indoor and outdoor spaces.
This year’s main stage shifts to the National Maritime Museum in Yeongdo, while the popular ‘Outdoor Improvisation’ returns to Haeundae Beach on May 24.
BIMPRO launched with a pre-event performance on May 3 and continues with workshops from May 8 to 11, community and campus events on May 9, and a full lineup including ‘Relay Improvisation’ on May 10, and ‘Open’ and ‘Contact Improvisation’ on May 11.
The festival will feature 152 participants from four countries, covering genres from ballet and modern to street dance, with opportunities for audience participation.
Highlights include performances by Kyle Abraham (USA), Maria Mabridou (Greece), Sylvain Méret (France), and a tribute to the late dancer Kang Mi-hee. Admission to performances is free, while workshop participation costs 10,000 won.
The festival emphasizes accessibility, welcoming both professionals and the public to engage in the moment-driven art of improvisational dance.
