The 10th Gijang Firefly Ecological Experience Learning Event will take place from June 13 to June 15 at the Jangansa parking lot and valley trail, offering visitors a guided nighttime exploration of fireflies in their natural habitat.
The opening ceremony will be held on June 13 at 7:20 pm, followed by three nightly exploration sessions at 7:30 pm, 8:30 pm, and 9:30 pm. A total of nine exploration sessions will be conducted over three days.
On-site registration will also be available during the event, but only for the 9:30 pm session.
The event includes a 1.4 km guided exploration along a barrier-free trail, thematic performances at the start and end points, and the Firefly Learning Center with exhibitions and educational displays. Additional hands-on experience booths will offer activities like badge-making and traditional games.
Changes from previous years include a shift from fully on-site registration to a combination of pre-registration and limited on-site sign-up, along with a move from self-guided to guided explorations to enhance safety.
Additional staff will be deployed to manage visitor flow and ensure safe exploration.
Visitors are advised to dress warmly for the evening, refrain from using luminous items or flash photography, and maintain a quiet environment to protect the fireflies.
