Busan City will host the 2025 Traditional Folk Art Performance Playground, a cultural series running from June to October to celebrate Korea’s intangible heritage through free public performances across the city.
The event will showcase 17 nationally and locally designated cultural properties, including Dongnae Yaryu, Busan Nongak, Suyeong Yaryu, and traditional rituals and dances.
Each performance features master artists and aims to connect audiences with the energy, humor, and resilience of Korean folk traditions.
Four performances are scheduled:
June 8 at 3 p.m. at Dong-gu Cultural Platform Citizens’ Square
September 11 at 2 p.m. at the Global Center Plaza of Busan University of Foreign Studies
September 20 at 2 p.m. at the Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum outdoor yard
October 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Dongnae Oncheoncheon Busking Yard
Performances will depict traditional themes such as agricultural rituals, fishing labor, village celebrations, and ancestral worship, offering both entertainment and insight into Korea’s cultural roots.
