Busan’s first classical music-exclusive concert hall will officially open on June 21 in Busan Citizens Park, offering world-class acoustics, modern design, and year-round access to music lovers and visitors alike.
Designed in the “vineyard style” like Berlin Philharmonie and Suntory Hall, the main hall seats 2,011 people, with a 400-seat chamber hall for smaller performances and lectures.
The hall also features Korea’s first pipe organ in a non-metropolitan venue, boasting 4,423 pipes and 64 stops capable of producing a full orchestral sound.
Visitors can enjoy the space even without a ticket. The lobby will remain open to the public, offering a café, photo spots, and a view of the auditorium through a large window. There is no dress code, and the hall encourages casual visits as well as formal attendance.
Seating options range from premium front-row views to budget-friendly student seats, with specific areas offering the best sound or visibility depending on preference. Even the seats themselves are built for acoustics, each costing over 1 million won.
Advanced stage technology allows for automated adjustments for orchestra seating and sound reflectors. Two Steinway grand pianos from Hamburg have been installed for performances, with more to come.
From architectural design to performance experience, Busan’s new concert hall aims to become a cultural landmark for classical music in Korea.
