A new group exhibition titled Urban Resistance will be held at Arise Art Space in Suyeong-gu, Busan, from July 19 to August 2.
Featuring works by seven international and local artists, the exhibition examines the challenges of contemporary urban life and the idea of resistance in the face of ongoing transformation.
As cities continue to expand and space becomes more contested, the show poses questions about how people can live together sustainably and authentically.
In the context of Busan, a city shaped by constant redevelopment and layered histories, the participating artists engage with the frictions between nature and urban infrastructure, personal freedom and public control, and division and coexistence.
The exhibition features Chandre Mau, Jacki Ortiz, JUN’D, Kim Kunye, Luisa Cools, Park Sohyoung, and Sébastien Simon.
Their diverse perspectives and media explore issues such as climate crisis, social fragmentation, and hyper-development—probing what it means to resist and to belong in an ever-changing urban environment.
An opening reception and artist talk will take place on Saturday, July 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Admission is free, and the gallery will be open Thursday through Sunday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
