The 18th Asian Film Awards, set for Sunday, March 16, in Hong Kong, has unveiled its nominees across 16 categories.
The prestigious event, organized by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA), celebrates the best in Asian cinema, highlighting outstanding films and industry talent.
This year, Exhuma dominates the competition with nominations in 11 categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
The Korean horror-thriller, praised for its gripping narrative and cinematic excellence, has reaffirmed the strength of Korean cinema on the international stage.
Additional Korean contenders include Revolver‘s Lim Ji-yeon for Best Supporting Actress and Harbin‘s Hong Kyeong-pyo for Best Cinematography.
Hong Kong’s Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In follows closely with nine nominations. A massive box office success, the action-packed thriller is recognized in major categories such as Best Film and Best Supporting Actor.
Teki Cometh and All We Imagine As Light secured six nominations each, reflecting the diversity and artistic achievements in this year’s lineup.
Legendary Hong Kong filmmaker Sammo Hung has been appointed Jury President. Known for his contributions as both an actor and director, Hung previously received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th Asian Film Awards.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, he stated, “It is my pleasure to serve as the Jury President for the Asian Film Awards. I hope to continue working with my peers to support the development of the Asian film industry.”
The awards ceremony will be held at the Xiqu Centre in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District and streamed live on official online platforms.
In addition to competitive categories, special honors such as the Lifetime Achievement Award, Rising Star of Asia Award, and AFA Next Generation Award will be presented.
