Haeundae-gu will unveil its first large-scale digital billboard, ‘Grand Josun Media,’ tonight, marking the beginning of the ‘Haeundae Square’ project, a media zone modeled after Times Square.
Installed on the Grand Josun Busan Hotel, the curved 25-meter-wide and 31-meter-tall display will feature exclusive media content.
A special lighting ceremony at 8 p.m. will include the premiere of the sun-and-moon-themed video Luna-Sol, followed by a vertical-stage performance, dance show by JUST JERK, and a DJ set on the hotel’s terrace.
Designated as Korea’s first outdoor advertising free zone outside Seoul, the Gunam-ro and Haeundae Beach area will soon include more installations: 14 media poles and a 26-meter media tower, with plans under review by city committees.
Officials hope this initiative will turn Haeundae into a global attraction on par with Times Square and Dotonbori.
