The city of Busan has begun a public-private campaign to prevent food poisoning as the city prepares for the summer holiday season and the upcoming National Sports Festival for the Disabled.
The initiative began on July 4 at Gwangalli Beach and Minrak Waterside Park, with participation from district offices, food service associations, and consumer food hygiene monitors.
The campaign focused on encouraging hygienic practices among food establishments and the public.
Activities included distributing educational materials, promoting the use of certified safe restaurants, and encouraging transparent pricing and compliance with fair pricing guidelines.
The city also emphasized the “5 Key Rules for Preventing Food Poisoning,” which include proper handwashing, maintaining appropriate food storage temperatures, separating raw and cooked foods, thorough cooking, and regular disinfection.
Busan has been conducting similar campaigns since June in high-traffic areas and major tourist sites such as Jagalchi Market, Songdo Beach, Taejongdae, and Busan Station.
These efforts are aimed at protecting public health and ensuring a positive experience for the growing number of tourists.
With foreign tourist arrivals surpassing one million this year, the city hopes to build a safer and more appealing environment for all visitors.
