The city of Busan is currently reviewing public opinion to determine the official name of the recently opened Bukhang Waterside Park, with competing proposals reflecting both historical significance and public familiarity.
While some advocate for renaming it “Busan Great Victory Memorial Park” in honor of Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s naval triumph during the 1592 Imjin War, others prefer retaining the existing name, citing its widespread recognition and practicality.
The city has been gathering feedback from residents of Jung-gu and Dong-gu, where the park is located, and may expand the survey citywide.
Final naming will be determined by a joint review involving city and national committees.
