Torrential rain that swept across Busan on July 18–19 has led to multiple cases of flooding, infrastructure damage, and fallen debris across the city.
According to the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, 17 damage reports were filed between 2 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the 19th.
Incidents included manhole backflow in Namcheon-dong and Beomil-dong, a rockfall on a slope in Songjeong-dong, and potholes on roads in Myeongnyun-dong.
Roof tiles were dislodged in Jurye-dong, and part of a villa’s exterior wall collapsed in Daejo-dong. Fallen trees were reported in Mandeok-dong and Oncheon-dong.
Earlier, from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the 18th, five additional cases were reported, including potholes in Deokpo-dong and Gupo-dong, and a fallen tree in Cheongryong-dong.
Rainfall peaked at 39mm per hour in Gangseo-gu early Saturday. Citywide totals between July 17 and 19 ranged from 62mm to 130.9mm, varying by district.
Residents are advised to stay alert for additional weather updates and possible disruptions.
