Yangsan City will increase city and village bus fares starting August 1, while simultaneously launching free bus rides for children aged 6 to 12.
The fare adjustment, implemented across 18 cities and counties in Gyeongsangnam-do, is based on a decision by the Gyeongsangnam-do Consumer Policy Committee and Yangsan’s Price Countermeasure Committee.
It marks the first fare hike in five years and seven months, with rising labor and maintenance costs cited as the main reasons.
Under the new rates:
-
Adult fares will increase by 200 won
-
Youth and children will see a 100 won increase
-
Seat and limousine bus fares will go up by 150 won
Children eligible for the free fare must use a transportation card, which can be purchased at convenience stores. Cash users will still be required to pay the standard fare (e.g., 850 won for city buses).
Additionally, a free transfer fare policy between Yangsan, Busan, and Gimhae is currently in progress and is expected to launch in September.
