The 2024 Busan International Rock Festival will take place from October 4th to 6th at Busan’s Sasang Samnak Ecological Park.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the festival is Korea’s first and longest-running rock music event, featuring 78 domestic and international artist teams this year.
The lineup includes veteran rock legends that evoke nostalgia, as well as a notable increase in Japanese bands, reflecting the rising popularity of J-pop and J-rock.
Opening Day (October 4) will feature UK rock band KASABIAN, making their first appearance in Korea in 10 years. Known for their dominance of the British rock scene in the 2000s, they promise an electrifying performance of slams and sing-alongs. Korean acts include Lee Seung-yoon, winner of Singer Gain, and innovative rock band Silica Gel. Veteran artist Lee Sang-eun, famous for “Damdadi,” will also make a special appearance.
On October 5, British pop sensation ANNE-MARIE, loved in Korea for hits like “2002,” will take the stage. She has collaborated with numerous K-pop artists, adding to the anticipation. Korean bands Jannabi and Guckkasten will perform, bringing their unique charm and energy to the lineup.
The finale on October 6 is a must-see for J-pop and J-rock fans, with the return of legendary Japanese punk rock band ELLEGARDEN. After a long hiatus, they are set to deliver a dynamic performance. Other headliners include HYDE, known for his androgynous appeal, as well as popular Korean acts AKMU and FTISLAND.
Local talent will also shine, with Busan-based bands like Hathaway and Band Kirin taking the stage, along with Seoul Madam, a group of rockers from Seoul, Incheon, and Busan. Adding to the global exchange, Thai pop star Palmy will present a unique performance.
This year, the festival expands its offerings with interactive programs such as cooking classes with renowned nutritionist Kim Min-ji, a village singing contest, and Samrak Game Heaven. Shuttle bus services will be available to make commuting easier for attendees.
