International Destinations: 2024 Beijing Chaoyang International Light Festival

Running until November 10, the 2024 Beijing Chaoyang International Light Festival illuminates the Liangma River Cultural and Economic Belt under the theme “Following Light, Beautiful Shadows.”

The festival features over 50 lighting installations and 10 entertainment and consumption events spread across three key areas: Liangma River International Waterfront (“Flowing Light and Color”), Chaoyang Park (“A Light Adventure”), and Junwangfu Mansion (“The Art of Light and Shadow in National Style”). Visitors can explore these areas on both water and land.

Starting at Yansha Wharf, an “AI Dancer” projects mesmerizing performances on building facades with “Light Dance of Blossoms,” blending AI technology and traditional artistry.

At Bogong Lock, a national-style light display incorporates naked-eye projections, laser drawings, and mechanical movements.

SOLONA Wharf’s “Magical Night: Music Box” combines music with vibrant lighting effects, creating a magical, concert-like experience.

Connecting Beijing’s popular shopping districts — Sanlitun, Yansha, and SOLONA — the Liangma River is lined with nearly 10,000 shops, including Michelin-starred restaurants, cafes, bookstores, and theaters.

As Beijing’s premier waterfront economic belt, this area seamlessly integrates leisure, culture, and commerce, making it a favorite among locals and tourists.

Moving forward, Chaoyang plans to enrich this riverside hub with emerging industries, digital art installations, and new cultural spaces, positioning it as an avant-garde destination for cultural tourism and vibrant night views along the river.
