    International Destinations: Japan’s 2025 Cherry Blossom Forecast

    Japan’s much-anticipated cherry blossom season is set to begin in March 2025, with different regions experiencing peak bloom at varying times.

    According to the Japan Meteorological Corporation, the first cherry blossoms are expected to appear in Fukuoka, Kagoshima, and Kochi on March 22, marking the start of the season in the southern regions before gradually moving northward.

    Tokyo’s first bloom is forecast for March 24, with full bloom expected by March 31, making late March an ideal time for hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in the capital.

    Other major cities such as Osaka and Nagoya will see their first blossoms around March 27, with full bloom following in early April.

    Further north, Sendai’s cherry blossoms will start blooming on April 7, reaching full bloom by April 13. Meanwhile, Aomori and Sapporo will be the last cities to witness the sakura season, with blooming expected in late April and early May.

    The forecast may shift depending on weather conditions, but travelers planning to visit Japan for cherry blossom season can use this guide to time their trips for the best viewing experience.
