Gimhae International Airport is preparing for a sharp rise in traffic during the peak summer vacation period, with an estimated 899,657 passengers expected to pass through the airport between July 25 and August 10.
This amounts to a daily average of 52,921 travelers, a 10% increase compared to the heavily trafficked Lunar New Year holiday earlier this year.
The busiest day is forecast for Saturday, July 26, when 55,526 people are projected to use the airport, coinciding with 313 domestic and international flights, the highest number scheduled during the summer season.
To handle the surge, Korea Airports Corporation will open check-in counters earlier than usual and fully staff security and identification checkpoints to ensure smooth operations.
The airport will also strengthen passenger service support, including international shipping of lost items for overseas travelers and a priority screening service for families with three or more children under the age of 19.
Travelers are encouraged to use digital tools such as the ‘One ID’ biometric check-in system to reduce waiting times at boarding gates. Additionally, the Busan headquarters of Korea Airports Corporation will open 399 temporary parking spaces to prevent congestion and will increase staffing for parking assistance, customer guidance, and facility cleaning throughout the airport.
With passenger numbers returning to pre-pandemic highs, Gimhae Airport is taking extensive steps to minimize delays and ensure a safe and efficient travel experience for all passengers.
