Being a huge fan of Thai food, stumbling across JJ Green Thai in Seomyeon was a nice surprise.
Located on a back alley road near the Jeonpo Cafe Street, JJ Green Thai offers up some sumptuous dishes from the Land of Smiles.
I visited there for a late night dinner meeting with a colleague and we ordered three dishes, none of which disappointed.
The food came out fast and was plentiful. As I am more partial to Phad Se Ew over Phad Thai and have had a hard time finding a quality dish in the city, I was pleasantly surprised it was on the menu. It wasn’t as good as something you’d get in Bangkok, but it did the trick with the right flavors though it lacked the greens one would find in Thailand.
The seafood Phad Thai was standard, though quite plentiful for its 7,500 won price. Most prices at the restaurant range between 6,000 won to 13,000 won and the portions are very good for the price.
We finished our meal with a bowl of braised beef noodle soup for 8,000 won which was very tasty.
Three Thai beers — Singha, Chang and Leo — are on sale for 5,500 won, though soju is available if you feel like you still want to be in Korea.
Other dishes worth trying are the Khao Phat (fried rice), Som Tam (green papaya salad), Tom Yum Kung and five curries which are standard at most Thai restaurants.
If you’re looking for a good Thai meal with a no-frills interior, this is a great place to start.
