In the second of their two-part series, Dynamic Busan provides restaurant recommendations from the dongjang, the community head in each neighborhood. This month, local gourmet restaurants step into the spotlight.
Salmar, located near Namcheon Station, serves salmon however you like it. Grilled, on salad, or with rice — their selections are tailored to all tastes. Specializing in raw salmon, the Salmar menu includes salmon sashimi, salmon steak, salmon sushi, salmon deopbap (a bowl of rice topped with salmon), salmon rolls, salmon salad and salmon baguette. Each quality salmon dish comes at a reasonable price of 10,000 to 12,000 won.
The most popular menu item is salmon steak. Rarely found elsewhere, this flavorful steak is crispy and browned on the outside, while soft and tender on the inside.
The Namcheon-dong (neighborhood) community head chose the restaurant because each of their dishes is prepared with fresh salmon. The dongjang took note of Salmar’s high standards, as it uses only raw salmon certified by the Norwegian Seafood Council, imported directly from Norway by air.
Salmar’s other strengths, according to the dongjang, are the atmosphere and friendly service. Its classic blue and white northern European interior design livens up the sleek, yet comfortable interior. Artful menus and pre-meal TWG tea add to the customer experience. Sip a perfectly-paired wine while you’re there, with a selection available by the glass. Vacuum-packaged salmon belly, fillets, or smoked meat are also available for sale.
