이열치열 [ iyeolchiyeol ]
이열치열 means ‘controlling/managing heat with heat‘.
ex)
A) 이 더운 날에 삼계탕을 먹어요? (Will you eat samgyetang on this hot day?) B) 그럼. 이열치열이야. (Sure. It’s 이열치열.)
B) 저는 더운 날 해변을 달리는 것을 좋아해요. (I love to run at the beach on a hot day.) B) 이열치열이군요. (I must be 이열치열.)
It is also used in a similar way to ‘fight fire with fire’.
ex)
A) 왜 저 사람을 쳤어? (Why did you hit that guy?) B) 저 사람이 먼저 쳤어. 이열치열이야. (He did first. It’s just 이열치열.)
