With his first Major League Baseball contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates nearing completion, South Korea’s Kang Jung-ho departed for the big league city today.
The shortstop vowed to make quick adjustments to the new environment.
ESPN reported earlier this week that the Pirates and Kang agreed to a four-year deal worth about $16 million US, with an option for a fifth season, adding that the deal was pending a physical.
Kang’s Korean team, the Nexen Heroes, said the player is scheduled to undergo the physical on Thursday and Friday.
