Jinju Launches 2025 Saturday Permanent Folk Bullfighting Competition

Jinju City has begun to host the “Saturday Permanent Jinju Folk Bullfighting Competition” every Saturday through September at 1:30 p.m. at the Jinju Folk Bullfighting Competition Stadium in Panmun-dong.

Organized by the Jinju Bullfighting Association and hosted by the city, this annual event will run for 20 sessions, featuring 15 matches per session.

In addition to the bullfighting matches, the event will offer various side attractions such as safety prayer ceremonies for cows, cow feeding experiences, tug-of-war, jegichagi, and celebratory performances for spectators.

The competition will pause during July and August to ensure safety during the hot summer months.

Celebrated as the birthplace of cow fighting, Jinju has held these competitions every Saturday since 2011.
