Lotte Giants’ Victor Reyes Sets New KBO Single-Season Hit Record

Lotte Giants’ foreign hitter Victor Reyes set a new single-season hit record in the KBO League, amassing 202 hits and surpassing the previous record of 201 set by Seo Geon-chang in 2014.

The milestone came during the final game of the 2024 regular season against the NC Dinos at Changwon NC Park on October 1st, marking a significant achievement in KBO history.

Starting as the designated hitter and leadoff for the first time, Reyes recorded 2 hits and 2 RBIs in 5 at-bats.

Known primarily as a central hitter, Reyes was moved to the top of the order by Lotte last month to maximize his chances of breaking the hit record. He had been batting second since September 22nd before taking the leadoff spot for this final game.

Reyes tied Seo’s record in his third at-bat with a single to center field, after struggling against NC’s starting pitcher Lee Jae-hak in his earlier appearances. His 202nd hit came in the top of the 9th inning, with a left-field single off reliever Kim Jae-yeol, securing his place in the record books.

With Reyes’ outstanding performance, the Lotte Giants defeated the NC Dinos 5-1, closing the season in 7th place.
