Lotte Giants Secure Victor Reyes for 2024 Season

The Lotte Giants have re-signed Venezuelan outfielder Victor Reyes for next year.

Reyes, who had an outstanding debut season in the KBO League, agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.25 million, including $1 million guaranteed and $250,000 in incentives. This marks a $300,000 increase in guaranteed salary compared to his 2023 contract.

Reyes proved invaluable to the Giants this past year, appearing in all 144 games and setting a new KBO League single-season record with 202 hits.

He concluded the season with a .352 batting average, 111 RBIs, and 15 home runs.

Lotte General Manager Park Jun-hyeok expressed confidence in Reyes’s contribution to the team’s success, praising his consistent performance and commitment.

Reyes shared his excitement about continuing with the team, vowing to work towards a postseason appearance alongside his teammates.

While Reyes’s return is confirmed, uncertainty looms over Lotte’s foreign pitcher duo, Charlie Barnes and Aaron Wilkerson.

Barnes, known for his aspirations to return to the major leagues, may explore opportunities abroad, while Wilkerson’s age could influence the team’s decision.

Lotte plans to finalize its foreign player roster after further evaluation.
