Busan to Launch Upgraded Blockchain-Based Citizen Platform in December

The city of Busan is set to launch the first phase of the upgraded blockchain-based “Busan Citizen Platform” on December 2, 2024.

This upgrade is a step toward the platform’s full-scale implementation in January 2026, designed to integrate administrative services, local economic systems, and community programs into a single app.

Developed in collaboration with Busan Bank, the platform aims to enhance accessibility and usability for citizens.

The rebranded app, now called “Busan Is Good Dongbaekjeon,” represents the city’s identity and ambition.

It replaces the current Dongbaekjeon app with a comprehensive digital hub that encompasses public services, regional currency management, and community engagement tools.

A key feature of the upgrade is the introduction of the “Busan Happiness Mileage” program, which rewards citizens for participating in activities such as volunteering, visiting facilities within 15-minute city zones, and health-related initiatives.

Points earned through this program can be converted into Dongbaekjeon credits or used at affiliated stores.

The program will run as a trial from December 2, 2024, to April 30, 2025, with participation open to 50,000 citizens on a first-come, first-served basis.

The app’s redesign also improves its user interface and experience, ensuring convenience and intuitive navigation.

The city is actively preparing for the launch through pre-release notifications and testing to minimize disruptions.

Current users will be able to update their app, while new users can download it from app stores starting December 2.
