The city of Busan has finalized its selection of 14 alley shopping districts for the 2025 Alley Shopping District Revitalization Support Project, aiming to boost local economies through community-led initiatives and cultural branding.
Five newly selected areas include Jung-gu’s 40 Stairs, Haeundae’s Haeridan-gil, Saha-gu’s Sunset Road and Jangnim Alley Switch, and Yeonje-gu’s Busan National University of Education Chamber of Commerce.
Each will receive 250 million won in support funding and benefit from programs that help organize local merchant communities, build branding strategies, and enhance marketing and infrastructure.
In addition, two existing districts, Buk-gu’s Hwamyeong Rose Village and Suyeong-gu’s Namcheon Sea Street, have been chosen as “Busan-Style Alley Helps,” each receiving 100 million won.
These areas will host themed events such as cultural festivals and stamp tour programs to boost foot traffic and strengthen community identity.
Seven other alley districts will also receive up to 50 million won based on evaluation results.
The city will dispatch “Alley Shopping District Coordinators” to provide hands-on support in organizing communities and consulting on business operations
