To celebrate its 11th anniversary, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) will host a special nighttime tour series titled “The Two Faces of DDP at Night: Serene or Seductive” from July 18 to August 9.
This premium summer program, organized by the Seoul Design Foundation, will take place every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and accommodate only 20 participants per session, making early reservation essential.
Participants can choose between two themed tours: the “Serene Spaces Tour,” which offers an exclusive after-hours experience inside the quiet, empty Art Hall, showcasing the architectural elegance of Zaha Hadid’s design, and the “Seductive Places Tour,” which explores the illuminated DDP exterior and the surrounding Seoul Fortress walls, including the Igansumun Gate. Reservations open at noon on July 10 via the DDP website and are free of charge.
This is the first summer edition of DDP’s seasonal special tours, which have previously earned high satisfaction rates. The rooftop tour launched last year recorded a 99% satisfaction rate and will expand to a full 650-meter course later this year. In the first half of 2025, 528 people participated in 48 rooftop tours, with a 94% re-participation intent.
The DDP Architecture Tour, which offers insight into Zaha Hadid’s design philosophy and the historical context of Dongdaemun, continues to attract steady interest. More than 140,000 people have joined since its launch, and participation in early 2025 increased 47% compared to the previous year. Tours run three times daily, six days a week.
