Busan Urban Agriculture Fair 2025 Underway

The 21st Busan Urban Agriculture Fair is underway through April 6 at the scenic yuchae flower fields of Daejeo Ecological Park in Gangseo-gu.

Under the theme “Busan Agriculture, Healing in the City,” the event will highlight urban agriculture’s role in sustainable development and well-being.

Hosted by the Busan City Agricultural Technology Center, the fair, which began in 2005, celebrates its 21st anniversary this year.

It aims to promote the value of agriculture in urban life and contribute to the vision of a “green smart city” that fosters coexistence between agriculture and urban environments in the face of climate challenges.

This year’s fair will feature a wide range of agricultural exhibitions, showcasing various types of urban farming.

Participants include farmers, urban growers, agricultural cooperatives, educational institutions, and related organizations, as well as innovative agricultural enterprises.

A key highlight of the fair will be Korea’s first ‘Biophilic City Network’ thematic exhibition, which will present the achievements of Busan as a certified member city.

Other themed exhibition halls will focus on eco-friendly intelligent agriculture, urban farming that harmonizes with nature, healing agriculture for health and well-being, companion agriculture that fosters connections between people and plants, and landscape agriculture that enhances urban aesthetics.

In addition to the exhibitions, the fair will offer a variety of experiential events and special programs, including a tomato salad-sharing event, a unique “Body Plant Runway” fashion show featuring floral designs, and several competitions. Visitors can also enjoy interactive activities such as vegetable seedling planting, tteok-making, traditional games, and a rapeseed flower maze.

This year’s fair will introduce several initiatives aimed at expanding healing agriculture and positioning Busan as a leading city in this field.

Activities will include a barrier-free vegetable garden experience, mental health and stress diagnosis programs, a healing garden and shelter, and an agricultural product experience festival called “Palm Party.”

Additionally, the fair will host exhibitions promoting local agricultural products, including rice, flowers, and tomatoes, along with live commerce sales by Busan influencers.

Special competitions such as a live flower wreath contest, an elementary school urban agriculture drawing contest, and a gardening competition, will also take place.
