    Gijang Anchovy Festival Taking Place This Weekend

    The 29th Gijang Anchovy Festival will take place this weekend at Daebyeon port area on Friday through Sunday.

    The annual festival serves not only an opportunity to show off high-quality fish, but also as a time to participate in exciting experiential events where visitors experience various activities, including harvesting seaweed, cleaning fresh-caught anchovies, and more.

    Anchovies are usually caught in Gijang around spring and fall, with the spring variety noted to be rich in fat and with a softer texture.

    Starting with the opening ceremony on Friday, various programs will be held, such as the Gijang seaweed harvesting experience event, bare-handed live fish catching, and anchovy song festival.

    Free anchovy sashimi tasting will also be held for three days.
