The city of Busan has completed and opened a new 480-meter barrier-free forest walking trail within the Igidae Art Park area in Yongho-dong.
The project, designed to improve accessibility for all citizens, including those with reduced mobility, is part of a broader effort to develop Igidae Art Park into an inclusive, nature-integrated cultural space.
The trail, named the “Pine Forest Deck Road,” was constructed with a gentle slope of under 8%, allowing wheelchair users and strollers to move safely and comfortably.
The pathway includes three rest shelters and connects seamlessly to the entrance of the planned Igidae International Art Center.
It also links the forest and coastal paths of the park, offering scenic views and access to local ecological features such as sea pines, amur cork trees, and native wildlife.
The project was launched in January 2025 and completed in April, with a total investment of 1 billion KRW. It was developed following the 2024 “Igidae Coastal Trail Socially Disadvantaged Care Path Creation Plan,” and is one of the first infrastructure steps in establishing Igidae Art Park as a complex cultural space where nature and art coexist.
The city plans to continue expanding accessibility-focused infrastructure in the area and gradually introduce more integrated cultural facilities within the park.
